The role of the Capability Architect (Automation) is to enable business and IT leaders to make technology investment decisions that balance and prioritise current operational demands, customer experience, and opportunities with the strategic vision of the organisation.
The Capability Architect (Automation) provides technology guidance, road maps, principles, standards, and best practices on how to automate business processes, digitise content and use data to deliver value to the customer.

•Provides overall direction, guidance, and definition of Automation capability architecture to effectively support the overall IT architecture and business strategy.
•Provide architectural consulting expertise, direction, and assistance – defines, explains, and advocates technology strategy within an area of specialisation.
•Directs and conduct research and evaluation of emerging technology, industry, and market trends to justify recommendations.
•Document and develop in-depth knowledge of the company’s existing architecture/ infrastructure, and technology portfolio.
•Works with business leaders to understand business requirements and help them understand how technology tradeoffs influence strategy.
•Reviews and/or analyses and develops architectural automation requirements as needed for the organisation.
•Advises on options, risks, costs versus benefits, system impacts, and technology priorities.
•Develops and communicates architectural policies, standards, guidelines, and procedures.
•Collaborates with project management and IT leaders to ensure progress towards architectural alignment with project goals and requirements.
•Leads teams in developing technology plans.
•Ensures the conceptual completeness and quality of the technical solutions.
•Member of the architecture review board and ensures that the solutions are compliant with target-state architecture models.
oWell versed and experienced in the optimisation and continuous improvement of business processes. Solid understanding of the underlying technology enablers such as process- and rules engines, workflow and case management, RPA, activity monitoring, process mining, imaging, document management, taxonomies, indexing, digital signatures, and artificial intelligence.
oUnderstands how to use data technologies to integrate information and supplement this with machine learning to provide predictive customer analytics.
oSolid understanding of and experience with modern content services platforms: Cloud content storage (S3, Glacier, Azure, etc.); Cloud content services (Amazon Comprehend/Rekognition/Textract, Azure Cognitive, etc.); Vendor-specific solutions (IBM CloudPak for Automation, Nuxeo, Alfresco, Hyland, etc.)
oSolid understanding of and experience with modern process automation platforms: Cloud workflow services (step functions, logic apps, power automate, etc.); RPA (Automation Anywhere, UIPath, Blue Prism, etc.); Process mining (Apromore, QPR, ARIS, Celonis, etc.); Vendor-specific solutions (IBM Cloud Pak for Automation, RedHat Process Automation Manager)
oExperience with integrating with CRM and business automation platforms such as Workfusion, Salesforce, Dynamics, etc.
oSolid understanding of and experience with cloud deployment architectures and DevSecOps:
?Hybrid multi-cloud architectures (incl. AWS and Azure)
?Containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes, OCP, Rancher, etc.)
?Modern application architectures (microservices & serverless)
?Optimisation of workload architectures in a hybrid multi-cloud environment
oCognisant of cybersecurity and emerging technology threats in a digital operating model.
